- You said "The Satus is Error 98 : Unable to allocate new media for backup." This is in fact the description for Status 96.
Status 98 is not the same as status 96.
Please note description of status 98 (extract from Troubleshooting Guide):
error requesting media (tpreq)
The tape manager and optical manager (bptm) received an error when they requested a media mount from the following: the NetBackup Device Manager service (on Windows) or the Media Manager device daemon (ltid) (on UNIX).
Try the following:
* Check the NetBackup Problems report to determine the reason for the failure. The most common cause is that the NetBackup Device Manager service (on Windows) or the Media Manager device daemon (ltid) (on UNIX) is not running. Start it if necessary.
As requested previously, information from Details tab in Activity Monitor is a good start. If that does not reveal the problem, we need to look at bptm log on the Media server.
