Cannot restart NBU services

Hello All,

I have installed NBU 7.5 on Windows 2008 machine and set it up as master server.

As per requirement, i need to put the machine in the Active directory domain which i have done already.

When i try to logon to the client service with active directory user (and not the local system account) and try to restart the services, i get the following error:

"Windows could not start the NBU Client Service on Local Computer.

Error: 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I checked the following services on the machine are set to auto and are running.

1. Symantec Private Branch Exchange
2. NetBackup Legacy Client Service
3. NetBackup Legacy Network Service

Windows firewall is off.

The same machine had worked earlier on NBU 7.6.

Kindly suggest any work around for the same.

Thanks in advance!!!

Cheers!

  • Does logon user name have local admin rights? Is UAC turned off? PS: OS-level changes should be made Before NBU master server installation. If you have not yet run any backups, best to remove and reinstall. Double check requirements in NBU Installation Guide and that Windows firewall is turned off.
  • user accout should be the part of local adminstrator group

not sure why you want to chage the logon accout of Master server.... any specific reason?

i wonder how its going to behave if some thing goes wrong in future... ( chage in logon accout etc...)

  • You both have provided a solution to me..so i dont know whos solution shall i mark. Let me know. Can i mark both :)

  • Thanks Marianne and RamNagalla for your inputs.

The active directory user account was not a part of the local admin group on the host. I added it and the services worked. :)

    Thanks again for the help.

    Cheers!!

  •

The reason  i need to change the logon account of master server is because i need to run the backups using active directory users in AD domain.
