Catalog recovery after reinstall

I've had to reinstall our NetBackup server.  It was running Windows Server 2003 w/NetBackup 7.0.1.  After reinstalling, its now at Windows Server 2008R2 w/NetBackup 7.5.0.6.  The problem is I can't recover the catalog.  From what I've found - it says that catalog recovery must be at same level/version to work.  Is there a way to "upgrade" my catalog so I can restore it to my new server?

BTW - the old server is dead and gone.  No way to recover or use this system.

  • yes.. that is correct..

    you need to install the 7.0.1 version in the netw windwos 2008R2 version  and do the recovery then upgrade to .7.5..0.6

    so here is the flow

    -> uninstall the netbackupu 7.5.0.6 on windows 2008

    -> install the 7.0.1 in windows 2008

    --> do the catalog recovery

    --> after successfull recovery upgrade to 7.5.0.6

  • Nagalla is 100% correct.

    Catalog can only be recovered to exact same NBU version.
    NBU must also be installed to exact same path as old server.

    Catalog will be upgraded during 7.5 upgrade from 7.0.1.

    Please be aware of the image header migration that needs to take place. Info in NetBackup 7.5 Upgrade Guide  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5198
