Catalog Recovery

Hi All,

I have a single physical server setup of Windows 2008 as Master / Client on 7.5.

Recently the HDD has shown some problem and as per vendor 3 disk needs to be replaced which is in RAID 5.

As per vendor, there has to be backup copy incase of any disaster to be recovered from it.

MY ? : incase after HDD replacement, if the there is a requirement of OS reintall then even netbackup will be scrapped.

How do i restore the full data which i have taken on tapes.

Your suggestion/solutions are welcomed.

Thanks In Advance

  • Ensure first that the catalog backup is set to write the DR file to a file, and also email it out if possible. Take a full catalog backup, of system. Suspend the media used, and then take another (two copies just in case ...) Make sure you have copy of DR files off the master. Double check you have copy of DR files located off the master backups Write down any barcode rules and media ID gen rules Replace disks Rebuild master with exactly the same hostname Reinstall NBU to exactly the same version, drive letter and path as it was previously Reconfigure devices (robots/ drives) Set up media ID gen rules / barcode rules as they were previously Run inventory on robot Copy DR files back to master (can go anywhere as long as you know where they are) Run catalog recover wizard, do a full restore, it will ask location of DR file Steps can be found in the troubleshooting guide.
