Disable Removable storage in Windows Master server
I am running 2003 r2 on dell 6850 with netbackup 6.5. It is the master server. Should the removable storage be disabled on the master server? I 've seen some write up that it should be disabled on the media server.
- Anonymous16 years agoI would recommend to disable if connected to tape libary enclosures.
On a master it serves no purpose. All handling is done by NetBackup, and can cause problems with your tape library if set to Automatic or manual.
3rd PARTY: Removable Storage Service set to Manual or Automatic and running.

What is Removable Storage?

The Netbackup Enterprise Media Manager (EMM) service does not start automatically upon a reboot of a Windows master server.

Cause:
If RSM is enabled and allowed to discover the devices it can cause conflicts with the EMM "Enterprise Media Manager
These conflicts can cause the service not to start.
