Disaster Recovery steps for Netbackup

Hello Guys,

I was prepraing the steps to disastery recovery for Netbackup, Can anyone check and suggest if any addition is required.

disaster recovery steps

install the os with the same bit as we had earlier on same hardware
install the netbackup application
configured the required devices
start the netbackup on emm server if EMM is seprate than master server
start the backup using command /netbackup/bin/bpup or in unix /netbkup/bin/bp.start_all
run the command bprecover -wizard to recovery the catalog and get ready the media which contains the catalog
browse and specify the path of DR file

Select the radio option if we need to recovery entire catalog or only catalog image and configuration file

Stop and restart NetBackup on all the servers.

On UNIX and Linux:

 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.kill_all
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all
On Windows:

 install_path\NetBackup\bin\bpdown
install_path\NetBackup\bin\bpup

  • Basically the same steps as a procedure I wrote and tested for one of our customers.

To me this seems to be all the steps necessary to recover your netbackup infrastructure

  • I would add a step checking that all the permanent licenses was there and adding those missing as I am pretty sure they are not a part of the catalog backup
