dll files appearing in the root of drives - is it NetBackup?

I noticed this around the time I upgraded our environment to NB 6.0 MP2. All of our servers that are backed up via NetBackup have about 4-5 dll files at the root of the drive being backed up. Some of the dll files include:

msvci70.dll
msvci71.dll
msvcp70.dll
msvcp71.dll
msvcr70.dll
msvcr71.dll

To add insult to injury, NetBackup throws up yellow guys instead of blue guys because it cannot backup some of the dll files due to corruption/unreadable errors.

Note: these files do not appear on any servers that are not backed up by NB.
  • Yeah, I thought of that... was just wondering if I had done something wrong during the upgrade.

It'll be fun spending my morning updating 50+ clients.
  • Jason,
    check this previous post.

  • It is a bug in the client installer....

I had an case on this issue...

The first couple of files gets placed in the root of one of the drives when you initially install the 6.0 client.

Adding MP2 further adds 3 dll files....

I was told by Veritas/Symantec that these files was for 64 bit clients only.
If not running 64 bit - it should be safe to delete them..
  • Ronnie has the best solution.
nuke 'em till they glow and then shoot 'em in the dark!
man...maybe I should cut down on my caffeine intake.

That sure sounds like the correct answer to me.
Delete the buggers. Yeah!Message was edited by:

  • Sounds like a plan to me! Time to don the radiation suit, nuking away.

    Thanks all for the input!
