May I know NetBackup 7.5.0.6 have limitation to back up VM ? like what sizing of VMDK can backup ? coz I got this problem, when the vmdk over 200 gb it got backup failure !!!

Did you mention that it was an exchange server previosuly? Thats does make a difference as it will be trying to quiesce the exchange database as part of the backup which could cause the snapshot to fail If you are not backing up exchange databases as part of the backup (in which case you would need a NBU client and Symantec VSS provider installing) then you probably need to disable application quiesce to get it to work - see option B in this tech note: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH141518

The size limit on VMDK files is well above 200g.

What is the error you are getting?

What transport method is being employed?

Can you via VMware create a snapshot - if this fails also, you will need to look at VMware for the problem. (do you have sufficient space in the datastore to hold the snapshot)?

Finally - does the user you have configured to communicate with vCenter have sufficient rights to perform snapshot operations? There are details in the admin guide on the permissions required.

Yes, Netbackup can send command to take snapshot and transport is using LAN. Netbackup was lock the snapshot after backup and make VCenter cannot consolitdate the Snapshot, then the Netbackup failure !!!

what is the Vcenter version ? Vcenter 5.5 is not yet supported

what is the VM hardware version?

does VMware tools are up to date and working fine?

does this VM ever worked fine?

may be its time to look into the errors

post the detail status of the job and also attach the bpfis log and bpvmutil log from the backup host.

Coz we part with VMware Engineer to work on that problem and VMware find out that NetBackup still can backup the Full VM, however when Netbackup backup finish then Netbackup will process the clean the snapshot, Netbackup will send the order to VMware to consolidate the snapshot, when VMware try to consolidate the Snapshot, the snapshot was locked by Netbackup when the VMDK over 200 GB, then it coz the failure, if next time backup then the vm was too much snapshot and make netbackup cannot backup !!! so the point is do Netbackup have limitation to backup the full VM ?

Make sure that the account you use for vCenter has correct access rights to allow it to delete the snapshots etc.http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH130493

Also make sure you Master, Media and VMware Backup Hosts are all at 7.5.0.6

Check the event logs on the VMware Backup Hosts in case bpfis is crashing causing the snapshot to be left behinnd

Well, in the Netbackup server, it can back up other VM normally, just only in my 2 Exchange VM got that failure.When the VMDK over 200 gb.
