ec 252.

Hi

we have a media server which itself working as a client, its backups are failing for error 252.

but we can see tape drives are up and are working fine on anotherv media server with which these are shared .

when i checked the BPTM logs i found following.

 <16> mount_open_media: error requesting media, TpErrno = Robot operation failed
 <16> RequestSpanResources: MultiResReq.cpp:2608 resource request failed [2009]
<16> nbjm_media_request: NBJM returned an extended error status: All compatible drive paths are down but media is available (2009)

<16> send_MDS_msg: Error from emmlib_handleMessage, Master ksprd127.kcdc.att.com, type 12, returned error 2005023

<2> bptm: EXITING with extended status 2009 <----------
 <2> bptm: EXITING with status 252 <----------
 

OS of media server : IBM AIX 5.3

NBU : 6.5.6

    Hi

    on checking with Sa we found that there is some H/W issue and thats is isseu with the  fcs4 adapter.

    Please post ALL info in details tab of failed job, as well as entire bptm log.

    The problem seems to start with this: Robot operation failed

    There is normally helpful info leading up to the <16>. This error is probably drives to be downed resulting in the rest of the errors. Please post log as attachment.

    Please also ensure that syslog is enabled on the media server, then add VERBOSE entry to /usr/openv/volmgr/vm.conf.  Restart NBU. Device-type errors will now be logged in the OS syslog log file (normally /var/adm/messages).
