  • I don't think there's a way from the command line to remotely check out that info on a client - I believe the only way to be sure is to examine the bp.conf on the client for a CRYPT_CIPHER line (and if there ISN'T one, it's the default: AES-128-CFB)

    (Assuming UNIX/Linux, of course - for Windows cilents CRYPT_CIPHER is a registry key)

    Generally, this is a "set it and forget it" setting, I've found.  Is it more dynamic for you?  Maybe I've misunderstood the question.

  • Cheers CRZ, the question was raised in response to a request from the auditors where they wanted proof that Encryption was set on the clients and that the data was being encrypted to the physical tape, I managed to take sceen grabs from the backup reports and the client to show the detail, it has satisfied them for now :-)
