error code 71 on windows client

What "part" of the backup is it failing on? (e.g. specific drive, shadow copy components)

Can you create new policy with same configuration as old and test new policy for testing perpose ?

everything is failing all drives and shadow components as well.

NO it will not help, I thought u r facing this issue only for few policy.....

but any way, what OS on Master server ? how many Media server & OS you have ?

can you run below command and post o/p

What is the backup selection you're using for this backup?

If it's ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES, try breaking it down to different drives + shadow copy component. 

It is most likely the shadow copy component part failing.. take a look at http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH56576

You will be able to track down by breaking the backup selection like c: d: or in job detailed status it will show you where you are getting the 71error code , set verbose log to 5 to track down completly.

Please post your policy config. (Your full and incr schedules are in the SAME policy, right?) On master, run: bppllist <policy-name> -U

Also create bpbkar and bpfis log folders on the client for further troubleshooting.

Are you using DFSR?

Does the snapshot creation take a long time?

What is DFSR ? and how would i know how to check it.i just know the backup is failing wiht error code 71
