Error: Detected an attempt to install incorrect platform and/or operating system and version client binaries

Guys, How do I install Netbackup 7.6.1 on one of our RHEL servers? ##################################################### [root@ NetBackup_7.6.1_CLIENTS2]# ./install Symantec Installation Script Copyright 1993 - 2014 Symantec Corporation, All Rights Reserved. If I use the CLIENTS1 installer, I receive this message: ERROR: NetBackup client software for the Linux platform is not on this media. I guess I am confused as to which installer will work with 64bit RHEL? Can you all please advise? Thanks in advance.
  • FWIW, I was able to re-install the NetBackup_7.6.0.1_CLIENTS2 installer.

However, I still cannot install the 7.6.1 client on RHEL 6.7.

  • Please show us contens of /etc/redhat-release

It sounds like the 7.6.1 installer found something 'it does not like'.
Clients2 is the correct installer for all supported Linux clients.

    PS:

Have you checked the size and checksum of download file?

  • Marianne,

/etc/redhat-release says:  Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation release 6.7 (Santiago)

I believe you are correct.  I tried re-downloading and re-installing and it is installing fine now.

    Thanks!

      Hi jeansedipogui

If you check the software compatibility list as suggested by @quebek - you will notice that to use 10.3 or above you require RHEL 7.9 or above. It's in the notes below the table outlining the supported OS.

You should also probably have started a new thread rather than tack on to one that is 10 years old (but that's for the moderators to police).

      Cheers
