GFS2 Filesystem backup issue

We have 4 node linux cluster using GFS2 file system shared to all nodes. While starting backup from one of node, some of GFS2 process hangs due to locking. Not able to kill those hung process.Reboot is only solution. Snapshot backup is not possible as per symantec " ON linux only VxVM snapshot backup is possible" .We have BCV in placed, but it also generating same locking issue while mounting SVOL on media server.Is there any workaround to take backup of GFS2 file system backup or some one had faced this issue.

  • Veritas Cluster File system is available for Linux. This will open up all the goodies in advanced client, including split mirror.  Will cost you $ in license however.
  • I thought GFS and GFS2 are not supported in Netbackup.

    I have also cases that the Netbackup always failed when backup the GFS2 filesystem that being mounted on the several cluster members.  The error is something like;

    09/28/2010 14:29:27 - Error bpbrm (pid=23669) socket read failed: errno = 52 - Stream ioctl timeout

    Happened already on two different cluster sets.

    Just wondering is it really supported or not?
