How to add NAS share as storage for duplication jobs?

Hi experts,

I would appreciate, if someone could share some tips how to solve this task:

We have Netbackup master/media and separate Netbackup mediaserver for duplication jobs.
We want to decommission the media server and replace it temporary with NAS share.
We can mount the share to master server(RedHat), but not sure about next steps.
How to add this share to Netbackup config and add it to SLP as an alternate backup location?
I was looking at universal share https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/doc/150157642-154787255-0/v141680925-154787255
Is this the right direction?

Netbackup 10.1.1
Redhat8

Best Regards,
JP

  • Hi,

I trust your choices are pretty limited... You can't do MSDP for sure on MSDP due to below excerpt:

NetBackup Media Server Deduplication Pool does not support the following  storage types for deduplication storage:
     ■ Network Attached Storage (that is, file based storage protocols) such as CIFS  or NFS.
     ■ TheZFSfile system.

I think you can go only with ADVANCED disk as this is supported with NFS and can be part of SLP, BASIC disk for sure is no go with SLP.

So find Advance disk admin guide and do it... ie.

But not sure if all of your backups will fit there ;(

  • Hi,

    Thank You, quebek.
Tried the advanced disk option and its working.
No dedup is not good, but it is what it is, i suppose.

      Hi DerekHsueh

Note that MSDP on NFS with Purestorage is a special case and the general rule that NFS is not supported for MSDP storage stands.

      Cheers
