  • as shown in technotes listed below, dbadm is interactive tool for database administration. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH126758 http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH158713 You wrote "Above is for database managing" in original post. why do you ask me this again?
  • Use nbdb_ping and nbemmcmd -listhost in combination. nbdb_ping check the underlying processes and nbemmcmd actually fire off a query towards the EMM database.  If both command return successfully you are 100% sure EMM is up and working.

  • Have you tried these commands? If so, please show us your output and then tell us what you see in the output. If you haven't, please do so and tell us what you see.
  • @Nicloi:Nbdb_ping is used for seeing whether nbdb is up or not.

    Am i correct?

    And NBDB is emm?

    sybase is different?ASA?

  • Arun (I guess we all know this is not your real name...)

Is there NO way we can convince you to actually run these commands and figure it out for yourself?

Please show us output on your server.
When you do, we will help to understand the output (in case you battle to understand the output).

To understand the different parts of the catalog, please read through these posts again:

  • Please check NetBackup 7.5 Administrator's Guide for UNIX and Linux Volume I, page 784. Sybase ASA(Adaptive Server Anywhere) is former name of Sybase SQL Anywhere. As written in Commands Reference, nbdb_ping displays status of NBDB and BMRDB. Once try it yourself, NetBackup 7.5 Administrator's Guide for UNIX and Linux, Volume I http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5157 About the NetBackup relational database NetBackup installs Sybase SQL Anywhere during the master server installation as a private, non-shared server for the NetBackup database. The NetBackup database (NBDB) is also known as the Enterprise Media Manager (EMM) database. It contains information about volumes, and the robots and drives that are in NetBackup storage units.
  • @yasuhisa:Please can you tell me what exactly dbadm utility does in lay man terms.

How is it vary from nbdb and ยท  nbdbms command?
