How to estimate the lvm snapshot size of MySQL backup?

Dear Experts,
     
         I am confused about estimating the lvm snapshot size of MySQL backup,  

         Is there any calculation method to use?

    Hey

    Answer to this question is tricky ;). Everything depends: how big is your DB, how many changes it will undergo during backup, how long time backup will take, etc and so on.

    I think that rule of thumb would be to set it to 10% of the LV size where you do store DB files. That is how I would have started with this, than observe during backup the size of snapshot. ie: lvs -a -o +devices
