Hi All,

I have to install netbackup oracle agent on solaris10 client

master server - solaris10, NBU - 6.0mp4

media server - solaris10, NBU - 6.0mp4

cleint - solaris 10, oracle - 10g

I need to know when i do oracle linking, does the database go in down state?

or do we need to keep it down before i run oracle_link script?

thanks,

Pinku

  • Database does not need to be shutdown. oracle_link script will also not take the database down.

Since Oracle 8.1.7, only symbolic is created. Older versions needed Oracle to be shutdown to create new oracle binary. This is documented in NBU for Oracle manual : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH43955

PS : PLEASE add NBU upgrade to your list of priorities. 6.0 MP4 was released in November 2005 and is marked for EOSL later this year.
