Installing netbackup 7.5

Installing netbackup 7.0.1 to 7.5 on a sql server 2008 r2 Any Suggestions?

Running Preinstallation and recieved error:

Warning. This application is being run in a Terminal Services client in Remote Administration mode. Installing NetBackup using a Terminal Service Client is not recommended. If you must install NetBackup using a Terminal Services Client, do not install from a mapped drive, as this may cause the install to fail.

Ran this with mstsc/admin

 

Contunied by trying to run the install(stopped symantec endpoint sevice, stopped all netbackup services, stopped polices):

    HKLM\Software\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\Config

    Check the USE_VXSS property, it should be set to PROHIBITED

     

     

    This allowed the install to complete.

    Hi,

     

    The actual log line indicating the real error usually occurs much earlier in the log file, followed by the cleanup actions and the end error lines.

    Could you provide the complete log?

    I'm not sure it is the root cause, but from what I gather it could be due to that nbaz/nbat services are still running, and hence it rolls back the install. You could try to manually stop all NBU related services (bpdown command) and then stop the AT/AZ services as well, and for good measure restart PBX service. Also, in task mananger, kill any still running NBU processes (bp*,nb*).

    There could also be some additional requirements covered in the install/release notes when using NBAC (haven't tried a 7.5 upgrade with NBAC myself yet).

    In the log i found an error 1603 and when i went and looked up the error it pointed me to registry entry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

    NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation=2 so should i change this to 0? In the log it says it isnt 100 percent accurate.

    Stopped the AZ/AT services and recieved this message after trying to run again. Killed all processes and still have the application roll back.

    Isn't use of NBAC disabled by default when installing 7.5 or upgrading, just as in previous releases? If you are upgrading and using NBAC, why would it be a requirement to disable security?

    I have no clue but it was set to automatic and the technician had me change it to fix the issue, so we you do the install i would advise you to check the registry or you may have issues.
