Limiting Duplication Jobs for Staging from BasicDisk

Hi,

is there a way to limit the amount of jobs doing duplication from basicdisk to tape? In our system the duplication uses all tape drives and leaves no room for other purposes...

    A addition to Rajesh suggestion.

    There is no 1 to no relation in Netbackup 6.x/7 between devices and storage units. If you do not want to decrease maximum concurrent writes drives you can create a copy of the storage unit and name it something like duplicate_stuname and point the duplicate to use the new storage unit. This way all drives are available for backup but only some for duplicate.

    Yes , you can do that . Go to the storage unit of the tape which you are using to redirect backup's from disk to tape . Then on the maximum concorrent write drives you can choose how many drives you want to run , suppose if you have configured for 10 drives and you want to limit it to 4 drives then select 4 and click ok .

    Then it wont use all the 10 drives instead it will use only 4 .

    Hello,

    you are right. But this Parm is set for entire netbackup.

    All running jobs together may use all Tape units.

    But 1 DSSU should not use all Tape units.

    I am able to control this in normal Policies via the checkbox "limit jobs per policy".

    I do miss this checkbox within the DSSU Schedule.

    well that might work. Creating a new Storage Device just for DSSU-Duplicates.

    I will try that.

    But out of all , it would have been nice to have a checkbox like "limit Dups per DSSU" .  ;-)

    Yes that would be nice.

    The trick will work - Used it before and it will even works using Storage Lifecycle Policys :-)

    By the way - Welcome to the forum. We have some really dedicated person in this forum that know every corner of Netbackup. Shout help here and you hear a answer cheeky

    I created a new STU and configured this only for the DSSU Schedules.

    This works.
