Linux VMware machine individual file restore failing

I am trying to restore individual files of a linux virtual machine.

 

Master server

OS                          : W2008 R2

NBU version       : 7.5.0.5

 

 

Backup policy details:

Backup type       : VMware

 

Attempt-1:

While restoring the data, I chose the policy type as ‘Standard’

But the restoration had failed as ‘1: (2800) Standard policy restore error’

 

 

Attempt-2:

While restoring the data, I chose the policy type as ‘VMware’

But the restoration had failed as ‘1: (2820) NBU VMware policy restore error’

 

 

Could you help me on this?

    Hi All,

    The issue is with the network, restored the data onto another machine under same network. Thank you.

    hi ,

    i am assuming your backup policy type is Vmware, so i wonder how you are able to select the files when you seletct the policy type as Standard '

    do you have the same VM in standard policy also?

    if you take the backup using the VMware policy type you should select the policy type as Vmware ..

    please post the detail status and the restore log of the failed job..

    In my restoration attempt I tried selecting the backup type as VMware and Standard too.

    I have uploaded the detailed status of both attempts.

    i am still looking for restore log to see if it has some other clues..

    default restore log location unless you change it at the time of Restore job

    /usr/openv/netbckup/logs/user_ops/<useid>logs/  -->for Unix Master.

    Installpath/veritas/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<userid>logs  --Windows master

    Hi Nagalla,

    I could not be able to find this log, in the path. May be cleared out automatically.

    Please let me know, I what I can do on this.

    Was the Policy configured with Enable file recovery fromVMbackup option set ?

     

    Do you have NetBackup client software installed on the VMware virtual machine ?

    Yes, the 'Enable file recovery from VM backup' option is enabled.

    NetBackup client is not installed on this VM client machine.

    Where are you trying to restore to?

    You can only restore to a Linux client where NBU software is installed.

    Per Symantec NetBackup™ for VMware Administrator's Guide, for restore of individual files

     

    NetBackup client software must be installed on the VMware virtual machine.
