long lasting backup

In a backup process, backup on a datafile file takes a very long time. It does this sometimes, what can I investigate about this issue?

i am taking a backup for oracle database. it does not show an error in the detailed status window and the backup process continues, but the process takes 2 times longer than the normal time

    Hi - for intermittent problems, perhaps the only viable starting point is to review metrics of the client, i.e. look for "other load" during backups... i.e. compare a good backup with a bad backup, and compare CPU, RAM, disk IO, network IO metrics of the two different events/time-frames.
