I have a question about protecting the MSDP catalog on a media server. We currently have a 5240 appliance that is acting as the Primary server and then we also have a separate media server that has a PureDisk storage connected to it. Currently we are protecting the dedup catalog on the Primary server, but do we also need to setup a policy to protect the dedup catalog on the media server?

yes, MSDP data is related to each media server. So direct these backups to the other media server.
bare in mind that the other media server should be on the same lvl as protected on or higher...
