Media server ISCSI Luns

Good evening forum Gurus,

I have a question. We used to have LUNS zoned to our media servers via fabric. The business is hell bent on the removal of the fabric and this is being replaced with LUN zoned via ISCSI. We used to have teamed NICS but these were disolved and a single NIC configuration was put in place as there were issues with teaming and ISCSI. This means now we have backup traffic and ISCSI traffic across the single NIC which is not ideal for performance or resiliense. I have suggested that we re-team the NIC and add another NIC for the ISCSI LUN presentation. Does anyone see any flaws in this thought process.

Environment is BYO on Windows 2019 running NetBackup 10.1.1.

  • You should create two teams, one for backup traffic, and the other for ISCSI traffic.

  • In an ideal world that would be my preferred choice but the storage vendor does not support teaming. go figure :(

I wonder if migrating the Media Server to Linux and then using bonding is the best solution.
