Media status dbbackup NBU 7.0.1

Hi All,

NBU version is 7.0.1

OS:- win2k3 sp2

 

Problem is NBU console show the Media status full and  available_media.cmd script shows the status dbbackup..

    I agree with Mark - the problem is with data/images that have expired:

    Data Expiration:                12/27/2011 23:00

    but media was not deassigned automatically:

    Time Assigned:                  11/28/2011 23:00

    available_media simply assigns a status of dbbackup when it gets confused with conflicting status such as this.

    For now bpexpdate -deassignempty -force will work, but we need to understand why this is not happening automatically.

    Can you see 'Image Cleanup' jobs at regular intervals in Activity Monitor? The default is every 12 hours.

    I think we are dealing with a bug that is documented in the 2nd part of this entry in 7.0.1 Late Breaking News:

    (ET2106924)  Duplications fail with a Status Code 191/233/44, Image expiration also does not occur on Windows Master servers

    What does bpmedialist -m EOD227 show Can't remeber which version but there is a bug where bptm does not expire tapes. That said, they would be expired by the 12 hourly clean up. Martin

    Hi All,

    one thing is common in all those tape's Last Write Host is NDMP host.

    We have manually expired few tapes and wrote backup on it, but scripts still shows the status dbbackup

    scripts is really bugging????

    or is there anything to do with NDMP host coz it dosent have any agent installed??? or shall we have to ignore the script????

    Sounds like a bug to me - there have been a few over the years with the Available_Media script - one was exactly your problem which was in V5 and earlier, one was that is showed all of the NDMP tapes twice.

    Worth logging it with Symantec to get it looked into in more details

    Dear all, again sorry to reply late this issue also has been resolved. Actually there were two media server which were made offline and later on we have to decommission them with decommission utility. it was those two media server which were causing the problem also media's are now expiring automatically.
