Backups fail with status 84 when backing to a Data Domain.

    http://www.veritas.com/docs/000019975

    Solution

Enable Virtual Synthetics on the Data Domain:

    ddboosts option set virtual-synthetics enabled

It is adivsed to investigate the implications of enabling this on the Data Domain and the affects it may have to other backups which use this device

  • we are using DD to take backup, another clients are getting backup with out issues except this one.

You forgot to add details about your environment e.g. NetBackup version, DD type, DD OS version DDBOOST version.

What is different for this client than others as you are able to backup others succesfully?

  • Check if there is a matching error in the DD logs, that will be much more descriptive if there is one.

  • You'll have to look at the bptm log for the pid that complained:

Critical bptm(pid=52108) image write failed: error 2060046: plugin error

Bptm will only write 2060046, but will have used the DD plugin which logs into the pid that calls it, that part will have more details.
