Migration from different backup tool to Netback

Hi All, I was confused about how to mange old backup tape? We consolidated our 10 small dc to one dc. Old DC Backup tool - backup exec, netbackup, arch serv. NewDC backup tool - Netbackup 7.5 So my concern - as old DC will be decommission soon, after that how i can restore backup from old tapes which was backed up by existing tool. Please suggest me some... Ways....to that... Thanks Pradeep Jadli
  • Old DC Backup tool - backup exec, netbackup, arch serv.

    Backup Exec:
    Solution depends on BE version.
BE tapes can be imported into NBU, but only for versions up to BE 12. See
     http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH125836
If newer version of BE, you need to keep a BE media server and a tape drive for restores.

    NetBackup:
You can import tapes into NBU. See
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH43584
Please create a seperate pool for these tapes and move tapes into this pool when you put them in the library. This will prevent new NBU server from overwriting them before they are imported.

    ArcServe:
    No solution.
You will need to keep one server and tape drive for restores.

    Hope this helps.
