Missing "Authorization" in Master Server properties

Hello Everyone,

I have two NetBackup Enterprise Servers in two different locations.

#1 Windows 2003SP2, version 6.5.6 (started out life as version 4 and has been upgraded through 5.1 to 6.5)

#2 Windows 2k8 x64, version 7.0 (clean install)

Both servers have Access Control set to Prohibit.

Server #1 has, in it's Master Server properties, a screen called Authorization which allows me to add userids or Windows AD groups and control if they need to be a local admin or not.

Server #2 is missing this and I'm wondering if it is because it never had the earlier versions installed or if it was phased out as of version 7 (we're going to upgrade #1 to version 7 as soon as I can get all the clients up to a supported version)...I'd like to be able to use this permissions editor (simple as it is) rather than work with an AUTH.CONF file.

Can anyone point me to the KB or KBs that I wasn't able to find searching about this or at least tell me why one has it and the other doesn't?

Thanks,

  • The steps to install NBAC has been improved/simplified in 7.0, so it's better to get all of them up to this version or above. Basically, only a setup command to be run on each servers (on master, then on each media server or client) where you can configure them respectively.

The guide that Marianne provided should serve the purpose.

  • See Security and Encryption Guide   http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127044

See Chapter 4: Access control security

  • Interesting...our 6.5.6 server doesn't have any of that configured (it might be installed but it's never been used) and reports "Access Management is not configured on this system"...yet it has the mini-authorization editor enabled in the master properties.

So based on that I guess I'll have to use the auth.config file method since I doubt I'd get permission to install the required add-ons on the 7.0 server.
