missing drive path

 

 

Hi Friends,

 

 

I need your help in solving below mentioned path issue with drive

 

# tpconfig -d

I can access all the paths with mt command as below

I tried to remove the drive 0 and then ran tpautoconf -a

    Try deleting the tape devices from /dev/ as Marianne and myself have recommended and get the OS to rediscover them.

    Then provide output of :

    ls -l /dev/?cbn

    scan -tape

    removing the drive and re-running tpautoconf will not work if scan does not see the device, which it does not in this case.

    Have you tried deleting the drives, deleting the /dev/?cbn devices and rediscovering them with a reboot to see if they all come back?

    Also check the NetBackup Device Configuation Guide

    It seems there are more /dev/rmt entries than actual tape drives - even if there are 2 paths per tape drive. This is normally an indication that there is no Persistent Binding in place between hba and OS. This will cause new device names getting created during reboot. So, 1st step is to cleanup /dev/rmt. Simply delete all entries in the folder. Recreate with devfsadm. Next, use hba tools to config Persistent Binding. Check that devices respond to scsi_commands with scan and sgscan. Rebuild sg driver if sgscan does not pick up all drives (search this forum for sg.build and sg.install ). Delete all devices in NBU and run device config wizard to re-add.

    mt command is rocognising all the 4  paths even the 0cbn i.e missing as shown in prevoius comment.

    that means drives are accessible from OS .

    and there are only paths related to 4 drives as shown below in /dev/rmt

    Try deleting the tape devices from /dev/ as Marianne and myself have recommended and get the OS to rediscover them.

    Then provide output of :

    ls -l /dev/?cbn

    scan -tape

    Hi Marianne,

    Sorry for bypassing the post. I am even facing the same issue.

    I have one robot and two drives. But it shows twice. I believe there is no persistant binding between OS and HBA.

    I have NB on linux redhat ES 4. After every reboot the paths are missing and creating prob when taking backups. reconfiguring stu manually always is not right solution I think

    Can you please let me the steps to follow the persistant binding,
