MOVING OLD (LEGACY) BACKUP IMAGES THAT WERE NOT REPLICATED TO A NEW REMOTE LOCATION

Hello Team,

We would like to move old (legacy) images that were not replicated automatically to our archive site. To be clear we want to move old backups in HQ to 2 different locations. Note that these are already backed up images without AIR setup to the remote location.

Can you advise on the detailed technical process and what it entails to achieve it. Let me know if you need further clarification.

Thanks.

  • Hi Abimbola

Could you please clarify the following:

    1. Are media server in the archive site controlled by separate master servers
    2. Are the media servers in the archive site controlled by HQ master server

I presume option 1 - but assumptions is the mother of all mess-ups :)

      Hello @nicholai,

Option 1. The media servers in the archive sites are controlled by seperate master servers.

      Thanks

        Hi Abimbola

What quantum are you talking about? Total size and number of images involved?

Again, I assume they are on MSDP, but can you confirm? There are a number of ways to do this but the best way depends on the answers to the above.

Also I have seen talk about using nbreplicate to push images that weren't originally configure for this. I think there are a couple of topics in VOX with possible solutions. That command was not meant to do this but I believe others had made it work (I've not tried myself).

Have a look at this post which has links to a number of possible solutions: https://vox.veritas.com/t5/NetBackup/Moving-MSDP-pools-from-one-Domain-to-another/

        Cheers
