Hello Running Netbackup 6.5.4 on Win2003 (32bit). Have bought a new server (Dell PowerEdge R610) and my plan was to run Win2008server x64, and Netbackup 6.5.4 x64. OS install looks good. Then I install 6.5.4 x64. Looking good: ...but after this windows I get following: The server have no network for the moment. Can this be the problem or is it anything else? In the system/eventlog I see some error 7000: The NetBackup Enterprise Media Manager service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fasion: Glad for all help :-) Regards Oyvind, Norway

Solved...!! Could not run Windows Update either. Had to remove server from Domain, and do Windows Update. Then everything works OK.

Hi, Please take a look at this knowledge base document: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/318040.htm "Even if logged as an Administrator, it may be necessary to right-click in setup.exe and select the option to "Run as", specifying an administrator. Select "Allow" when the User Account Control window is displayed in the screen, then proceed with the NetBackup Update installation."

Annoying problem with W2K8.

Run the patch from the Administator account. Right-click, Run-As.

It's also good idea to run BAR GUI and NBU Admin Console as Administrator as well. This will help you to avoid a bunch of very strange errors.

Confirm you PBX service is running fine, that can be an other point of failure of why the EMM is not comming up.

Thanks for help. Have tried to Right-Click, and choose Run as Administrator. But still same error.
