NBU 7.1.0.4 restoring from one master server to another master server's client

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if the following is possible without having to uninstall / reinstall client software pointing at the different master server.

Client1 is backed up nightly by Master1 - standard backups and restores work fine between these servers.

We have an isolated Master2 for legal work and I now need to restore from Master2 to client1 -

is there any way I can restore from this master server to the client without having to:
1) uninstall client software

2) reinstall client server pointing at Master2

3) restore files -

4) uninstall client software

5) reinstall client server pointing at Master1

6) backup as usual

TIA.

  • A client is a pretty dumb part of the system .. if a server talks to it that is in its server list it will be happy.

It is vary rare that a client ever communicates with a master server (just things like SQL backups) so it doesnt really care who its master is.

Just add the other master / media server to its server list and it will be happy .. just connect to its host properties via the admin console on the main site and add them in .. probably wont even need a service re-start

  • It should be possible by correcting the server entries in bp.conf or registry. You will probably have the to cycle the netbackup services/daemons including pbx
  • yes , its very simple..

make sure , Client 1 is having the good network communication with Master 2 and the media server that is going to use of restores

put the master2 and its media server enties in the client1 bp.conf(in case of unix ) , server entires in windows.

point the restore to client1 ..
