NBU Java Console 7.6.0.1 Issue

Master / Media : Solaris 11 - NBU 7.6.0.1

Java Console : 7.6.0.1

Problem : When i m trying to login through Java Console it logins and shows the option on the left hand side of the console like BAR...Netbackup Management etc. but nothing comes on right hand side of it. After some time it blacks out.

Using same Java console we are able to login to other server.having same config but not to this one.

We have done various checks for EMM server / db and all is showing fine.

Also host entry on both end have enteries of each other.

Pls. suggest.

  • Problem has been fixed after using fqdn.

    Thanks all for your suggestions.

  • Java Console installed where?
jnbsa on the master or Windows Java console installed on your desktop?

If on your desktop, try to add hosts file entry for the master server.
Also ensure that port 1556 is open in both directions.

I am using the exact same version on my laptop to access our in-house Appliance master with no issues.

  • Hello,

It's a Windows Java Console installed on our laptop/desktop (4 Nos.)

All 4 has Master/Media server enteries added in it with static Ip mac binding done.

Firewall ports 1556 is also open on both directions. Check is already done from the network end also and as per them the session is getting build but no response coming from the Master server end.

This was working couple of days back but all of the sudden this problem cropped up.

NO ADMIN LEVEL CHANGES ARE DONE ON THIS SETUP.

  • I would start by looking at the log in the background cmd window on the desktop.

Based on what is seen in this log, I would look for additional logging on desktop and/or master.

Ensure java log folders exist on master:
    bpjava-msvc
    bpjava-susvc
    bpjava-usvc

  • Yes...all these log folders exists on master....but bpjava-usvc doesn't have any logs in it.

Pls. find the background cmd window output....

Also would like to highlight 1 thing here...my recent interaction with network guys they are saying...that u need to check on the Master server as it is server closing your connection (Teardown TCP connection).

  • I don't see anything particulary useful in the cmd log...

So, the next step would be checking logs on desktop ([C:\Program Files\Veritas\\NetBackup\logs\us
er_ops\nbjlogs\) and Master server logs listed above. Maybe master server logs first.

My question to the network admin would be:

Why would connections work all the time and then one specific day out of the blue decide to close connections? Bearing in mind that no changes have been made at OS or NBU level?

I have been using Java Console across many versions for longer than I can remember, even managing customer systems across VPN from our offices and from home and have never seen this...

  • Problem has been fixed after using fqdn.

    Thanks all for your suggestions.
