NDMP restore failed from path UNKNOWN
Is it possible to restore NDMP into a different volume on a NetApp? For example I'm trying to do the following on our NetApp:
Backed Up: /vol/someVol/.snapshot/hourly.0/directoryRestored
Restore To: /vol/someOtherVol/directoryRestored
And during the restore job I get the following error:
NDMP restore failed from path UNKNOWN
The NetApp filer is reachable by the Netbackup server:
[user@backupServer ~]# tpautoconf -verify netappFiler -bash: tpautoconf: command not found [user@backupServer ~]# cd /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/ [user@backupServer bin]# ./tp tpautoconf tpclean tpconfig tpext tpreq tpunmount [user@backupServer bin]# tpautoconf -verify netappFiler -bash: tpautoconf: command not found [user@backupServer bin]# ./tpautoconf -verify netappFiler Connecting to host "netappFiler" as user "nbUser"... Waiting for connect notification message... Opening session--attempting with NDMP protocol version 4... Opening session--successful with NDMP protocol version 4 host supports MD5 authentication Getting MD5 challenge from host... Logging in using MD5 method... Host info is: host name "netappFiler" os type "NetApp" os version "Data ONTAP Release 8.0.2P3" host id "XXX" Login was successful Host supports LOCAL backup/restore Host supports 3-way backup/restore Opening SCSI device "mc0"... Inquiry result is "IBM 3573-TL B.60XXX"
Any help is appreaciated greatly, thank you!
Yes, it is possible to restore NDMP backup to alternate path and other volumes.
Please post job detail shown in Activity Monitor. Also check again if you have selected policy type and source/destinatio client correctly at restore.
