Netbackup 10.4 Malware Scanning Installation

Hi Team,

We have a requirement to enable the malware scanning and anomaly detection features in the Netbackup environment. This is completely new setup. 

My query is "Can we install the malware scanning plugin in any of the master or media server and use it as scan host?" or it has to be installed on separate server?

This is first time we are installing this features, so need your advise on above query and advise what is the best practices for implementing this feature.

    Hello

    Short answer is YES, you CAN.

    But this may have negative impact on your primary/media server as scanning requires additional CPU cycles, memory - hopefully there is ample of these on those boxes. So if your primary/media are bored do it, if not try to find out some other box.

    As quebek mentioned, you can do it on Media /Master server, but the best practice will be to implement it on a separate entity (VM/Physical server).I personally always recommend clients to install it on a separate VM other than Master/Media server.
