NetBackup 6.5.1 to 6.5.6 Upgrade Question

Team,

We’re planning to upgrade NBU 6.5.1 to 6.5.6. We've some doubt,

Master Server =  HP-UX B.11.11 Hardware = 9000/800

1, Does the NBU 6.5.6 Windows Administration Console (non-Java) will work properly with a down-level NBU 6.5.1 system ?

2, In upgrading from NetBackup Enterprise Server 6.5.1 to 6.5.6, is there any need to again update the Time zone information in the embedded Java for DST 2007 (Daylight Savings Time changes made in 2007) compliance?

We did perform this step when we upgraded to 6.5.1 (from 5.1). We want to know whether the .6 update will undo it and necessitate that we repeat it as part of our .6 upgrade process.

History:

NBU 6.5 was built using Java 1.4 code. Therefore, the Java that was embedded in NBU 6.5.1 did not include the DST2007 updates. As part of our upgrade from 5.1 to 6.5.1 in March 2008, we applied the DST2007 updates ourselves, using tzupdater.

Thanks in Advance,

With Regards,
Mohan.

  • There were DST fixes in 6.5.3.1 so I believe that your issue is not an issue with the current release.

Additionally, I checked my 6.5.4 master server (on Solaris 10) and the jre is 1.5.

No.  The master server must ALWAYS be at the highest version.  The EMM server is next.  Then the media servers.  Lastly, the clients.  If your master server is 6.5.1, then the administration console should be at version 6.5.1.

  • Thank you Ed Wilts! What about the answer for >2 ?
