NetBackup 6.5 client on Debian 6

Hi

We have plan to install and run netbackup 6.5 client on debian 6(squeez).
But the netbackup 6.5 client does not support debian 6 officially

Did anyone success to run netbackup 6.5 on debian 6?

Thanks
  • Debian 6  is supported from 7.1 only...

not sure why you are trying to use 6.5 still , Netbackup 6.5 is out of support more than a year ago..

so please go ahead with the 7.X installation

if your Master is still in 6.X its time for you to upgrade.. since Debian 6 is not supported with 6.X

  • Thank you for your reply.

Actually, Our customer are using NetBackup 6.5 Master. Client(Debian 6) is our side.
So we can't easily upgrade Master to 7.x.

We are going to guide to upgrade Master 7.x for our customer as your advice.
But if that is not accepted. We may have to find another workaround.

    Thanks

NetBackup 6.x ran out of support in Oct 2012. The customer will have to find another workaround/solution. Not you.

If you are a Symantec reseller you should explain to your customer what it means to have no support.

See this extract from the Version Compatibility TN:

Once a NetBackup version is EOL, no version of that product is Supported.  Please review the EOL technote for more information:  www.symantec.com/docs/TECH74757
