Netbackup 7.1.0.2 support for RHEL

Hello,

I've been trying to find out which version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1.0.2 is able to support? I've been looking through the software compatibility list and I am not clear based on the information provided.

For example in the NBU_76_SCL.pdf that I downloaded, it mentioned the Red Hat Enterprise 6 is supported with Minimum Netbackup 7.1.

Which version of RHEL or kernel level is supported by 7.1.0.2 ?

I am being asked whether our current  Netbackup system 7.1.0.2 is able to support the below version.

  1. RHEL 6
  2. RHEL 6.3
  3. RHEL 6.6 and
  4. RHEL 7.1

Please help.

Thanks

Chan

  • You missed the heading text for Red Hat - it say :

NetBackup is supported on all editions (Advanced, Base, DC, etc.) and on all vendor GA updates (n.1, n.2, etc.) or service packs (SP1, SP2, etc.) unless stated otherwise in the tables below

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/library/BUSINESS/xCL/TECH76648/nbu_76_scl.html#operating_systems-red_hat_enterprise_linux

Any update to RH 6 is supported with 7.1

RH 7 is not supported by NBU 7.1 as it require NBU 7.6

    Hope this clarify :-D

  • Have another look at the paragraph under the RHEL heading in the OS SCL: Red Hat Enterprise Linux NetBackup is supported on all editions (Advanced, Base, DC, etc.) and on all vendor GA updates (n.1, n.2, etc.) or service packs (SP1, SP2, etc.) unless stated otherwise in the tables below. So, all versions from NBU 7.0 onwards will support RHEL 6 RHEL 6.3 RHEL 6.6 And as per the OS SCL, RHEL 7.0 (and other 7.x versions ) is supported as from NBU 7.6.0.2.
  • Thanks..what about the linux filesystems, ext4, xfs, etc ? Are these supported by 7.1.0.2?

  • There is a section for filesystem support as well in OS SCL. Look for "File System Compatibility".
