Netbackup 7.7.3 - Active Monitor question

Hi all,

a client asks me to extend the "Active Monitor" retention jobs, now is set to 8 days and he would like extend to 30 days.

I want ask you if 30 days is too much, I worried for java perfomance, or if you think that 30 days is admissible.

thank you everybody,

regards

  • IMHO, 30 days is too much. It will impact performance.

Rather use NBU built-in reports or install OpsCentre.
The free version of OpsCentre can retain information for up to 60 days.

  • How many jobs per day is the qustion to ask first.

We are doing 30.000 jobs per day and do not store more than 3 days in the GUI. That works fine. If you do 300 jobs per day - sure 30 days will be fine.

    Best Regards

You could increase the number of days to retain slowly. if performance issues appear - decrease days to retain.

But do remember the activity log is not intended so see what backup are available. Command like bpimagelist does that job much better.
