Netbackup Appliance 5240

Dear
Good afternoon,

On Netbackup appliance (5240 - 3.1.1),
the duplicates to tape are failing with status 96,
encryption was promoted and there is currently a pool with "ENCR_TAPES" tapes
We currently have 3 LTO7 tapes and when duplicated by "SLP"

Error nbjm (pid = 169114) NBU status: 96, EMM status: No media is available
Please, I need support to find the duplicates failure problem

Further, the tapes that are part of the encrypted pool are

Please, if you can help me find the root cause of the problem with encrypted duplicates

Failed Duplicate a Tape Encryption

    Hey

    Error code 96 stands for:

    unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none available
    The NetBackup Resource Broker (nbrb) did not allocate a new volume for backups. This error indicates that the storage unit has no more volumes available in the volume pool that is specified for this backup. Note that NetBackup does not change storage units during the backup.

    You need to have tapes being available in tape library to duplicate these backups to them. 

    Do you have scratch pool? if so put some tapes from scratch pool to tape library. The current ones may not be used for various reasons, full/suspended/frozen/different retention period etc...

    just load brand new tapes and move these to scratch pool - or assing to ENCR_TAPES if you don't have a scratch defined.

    that will solve your issue.

      Dear, there are tapes in pool "ENCR TAPE,  there are no tapes currently in the "scratch pool", but we do have tapes in "ENCR_TAPE",  I attach images that describe the above, they still show duplicates fail via "SLP"

      Move tape a scratch Pool?

    According to the SLP screenshot, the duplication needs a tape in ENCR_TAPE or Scratch pool that is new, or existing tape in ENCR_TAPE with 1 Year retention that has space left  (not FULL, FROZEN, SUSPENDED).

    The output that you posted does not have any headings, so, difficult to guess details of these tapes.

    Please check output of 'available_media' command (in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies) to see which tapes are available.

      Dear Marianne, The output of the command displays the following message bash: / usr / openv / netbackup / bin / goodies / available_media: Permission denied.

      It's actually Netbackup appliance and it doesn't allow me to run typical netbackup commands.

      How can I determine if I have available_media?

      I created the user NetbackupCli
      and I ran the "available_media" command

      The command output is as follows:

      ENCR_TAPE pool

      Additionally I moved the tape T00052 to pool ENCR_TAPE
      the tapes are not frozen, suspend or full

      In scratch pool the detail is as follows

      T00044 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
      T00051 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
      T00053 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
      T00054 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE

      Please, based on the output of the available_media command,

      What it is causing the failure of the duplicates?

      Additionally, I attach output from the available_media and vmquery commands

        Please put these tape back in the robot:

        T00042 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
        T00044 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
        T00051 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
        T00053 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE
        T00054 HCART3 NONE - - - - - AVAILABLE

        All good to be AVAILABLE, but they can only be used if they are in the robot.
