Netbackup Client Install Interupted6.5.4

Hi All,

We are trying to upgrade client running window server 2k3 from 6.0 to 6.5.4. The installation gets aborted stating

"The installation was interrupted before it could be completed".

The client server is running citrix application on it and the Windows Installer has been updated to 4.5.

SOLUTION:

A WMI package was reinstalled and a reboot of the server was done.

We were successfully abel to install and upgrade the client to 6.5.4

    We logged a call with symantec ; they have informed to run WMI Diagnostic Utility.

    They suspect its a WMI related error and this utility will help diagnose and check for error.

    Once the Utility is executed we will be trying to reinstall/upgrade the client.

    Will keep you posted after the activity.

  • right click and say run as administrator

    copy the install files to the C drive and run from there

    rename the netbackup.dll

    check the task manager for any msi's that are still running from a failed install.

  • We tried the steps you mentioned but yet no success.

    Installation is failing with the same error.

  • Have you upgraded to 6.5 before ugrading to 6.5.4?

    Seems like a permission issue:

     

    Info 1406.Could not write value C:\Config.Msi\ to key Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders.   Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

    An unexpected error occured while installing Symantec Private Branch Exchange.  The error desfcription follows:

    Operation : There is problem in creating WMI object .  This may happen if WMI service is not started.  Please check whether WMI service  is in running state

  • The login credentials that are being used for installation has local administrator rights.

    WMI service is in started state.

    The procedures for upgrading from 6.0 to 6.5 are included in this installation guide i have attached for your reference.
