Netbackup Client Installation on HP-UX

Hi ,

I am new to this .

I have started the installation on netbackup client on HP -UX but it failed with the below error.

 

Saving client binaries for HP-UX-IA64/HP-UX11.31.
tar: You may not specify more than one '-Acdtrux', '--delete' or  '--test-label' option
Try 'tar --help' or 'tar --usage' for more information.

ERROR:   tar failed.  Aborting...


ERROR:   Saving client binaries for HP-UX-IA64/HP-UX11.31 failed.
         Aborting ...


ERROR:   A failure was detected running
         /NetBackup_7.6.0.1_CLIENTS1/NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/cl
         ient/HP-UX-IA64/HP-UX11.31/cp_to_client 10.10.20.196 rx2800-1 /tmp/install_trace.
         24572

Please help.

    It look like the tar version used by Netbackup isn't the expected one. Have you loaded addition version of tar on the client ?

    Netbackup client want to use the built-in version shipped from HP.

    Can we maybe start at the beginning?

    This seems to a be an upgrade and not a new installation, right?
    From which version are you upgrading?

    Which download file are you installing from?

    Can you show us all steps from the beginning?
    (Starting with unzip of installation files and running 'install' script.)

    Hi ,

     

    Its a fresh installation of Netbackup client 7.6 on HP UX 11.31.

    Please find the steps below.

    1. Downloaded the client Software Netbackup 7.6.0.1 client1.tar.gz.

    2. untar it by using tar xvf 

    3. then run ./install

    My setup details-

    HP-UX 11.31

    Netbackup 7.6.0.1

    ... Saving client binaries .... is normally seen when existing installation is detected and current binaries are moved to a backup directory.

    Can you show us all text following the ".install" ?

    Part of the output would be the path to the installation log. We need to see this installation log.
    Please copy this log to a .txt file (e.g. install.txt) and upload as File attachment.

    Another thought: This TN explains that gtar should be used to extract download files (not sure if it is still valid for NBU 7.6, but can do no harm to download and use gtar instead of normal OS tar):
