Netbackup email configuration in Linux

Dear Gurus,

 

I need a help to configure email notification about backup status in our environment. i gothrough all the documents and discussions already available on this, but everything was clearly available for master server in windows environment only. But we installed Master server in RHEL 6.0 and media server in suse linux 11 sp2. so please guide me to configure the email notification in Linux environment master server.

Master server - RHEL 6.0

Media server - SUSE linux 11 sp2

Netbackup version - 7.6

    Test sendmail as root user from cmd using mailx.

    Does that work?

    If yes, go to NBU and add email address in Host Properties.

    If no, then use Linux documentation or web site to get mailx configured.
    As per the similar post that I mentioned above - we cannot help with OS config.

    Thanks for the reply. we done the settings as mentioned in the links suggested.

    i need one clarification, whether i need to make any configuration in OS level (suse linux). please suggest.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the help. i configured the mail notification from OS side and now i am getting notification from NBU also like below.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Backup on client thswsussrvr.hosur.tvsmotor.co.in for user root by server thssymbkp.hosur.tvsmotor.co.in succeeded.

    Policy = OS_backup

    Schedule = OS_backup

     

    File list

    ---------

    NEW_STREAM

    C:\Users

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    is there any configuration need to be done for getting mail with details like size of the backup taken, start time and end time.

    I am not aware of where and how this default notification can be be changed.

    If you need additional info, best to install and config OpsCenter.
