NetBackup Firewall Ports ????

Hi All

I need to know firewall ports between ( Master Server ) and ( Media Server ) and ( Clients ) and a prove document from symantec to agree with these ports as we have a customer need a prove to open dedicated ports

Thank You

  • From past experience the following ports should suffice:

TCP 13782,13724 &1556. The manuals speak about vnetd which is 13724 only but this 3 always works for me.

  • 1556/TCP VRTS PBX. Master/media/client.

Open 13724 if you have back level clients (6.x and older).

    13782 is deprecated.

If 1556 isn't opened Netbackup will re-try the connect to 1556 3 times with one second delay each before trying 13724. In larger installation this delay is noticeable.

  • Safest is to ask for 1556 and 13724 in all directions.

As per TECH136090 in above post, as from version 7.0.1, NBU will attempt connection to 1556 first.
Then we see that a new WAN resilient client feature is introduced in 7.5 that only uses 13724.
