Netbackup For Debian Linux

I have two Debian Linux servers running on my network which run Email and Web. I use Netbackup for my other 20 Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and wanted to know if it's possible to back up my two Debian Linux servers also?

Anyone know if there is a way to do so?

  • We released this document when we started supporting Debian - old info but may still be useful:

Ubuntu 8.04 and Debian 4 are now supported as a client in NetBackup 6.5.2. This document covers a few known issues when using Ubuntu 8.04 or Debian 4 as a client with NetBackup 6.5.2.

  • Thank you for that info! I am very impressed to see Debian supported. Any idea if the documentaion will be updated to alteast reflect the stable version Debian 5? I do see as you noted the docs are rather dated.
  • To be honest, I didn't know we HAD certified Debian 5 yet, but a quick check of the O/S CLs shows that it's there, supported as a client from 6.5.4 (32 or 64 bit) and 7.0 (64 bit only).

I do see we still reference the old doc even in the 7.x CL, so maybe we SHOULD work on editing it...good catch!
