Hi All, Backup is getting hung and it is not progressing and it show the speed as 30 kb/sec. These backups were running fine earlier and now a days many servers affected and running for 15 to 20 days Master server version is 6.5.6 Cleint 6.5 Kinldy let me know what all things i have to check.

When I have similar problem I create a test policy to identify where backup is hanging. I use suspected folder\* as the filelist and enable multiplexing. This will create single backup image for each subfolder or file in the suspect folder. If it is a subfolder then I make that the new filelist and repeat backups. Eventually I will get a clue as to what is hanging and then I can talk to data owner about alternate methods of backups like maybe shutting down the application or excluding some files.

I strongly recommened for 7.5 upgrade.

6.5 is in no more in support.

1)do u have issue with single client/multiple clients?

2)cancel the backup and try again

3)may be a bad network/may be a firewall issue.

I have restarted the backups and again the same.
i have rebooted the servers b ut no luck.
multiple client servers are affected.

Many servers extremely slow?

Check name resolution. Use local host entries.

Check network configurations to be FULL-duplex, fixed rate. no auto-negotiate.

Check performance of local filesystem by bpbkar (http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO56131)

If this fake backup run fast then we can go to the next step.
I remember as it helped to decrese buffer size on Windows client from default to 2KB.

You REALLY need to upgrade NBU!
NBU 6.5 ran out of support more than a year ago.

On all W2003 servers and clients, check that TCP Chimney is disabled.

i have found some folder is making the backup job hung for couple of servers

I have excluded the folder and now the backups are running fine.

Help me to understand why perticular folder is causing this issue.

Its not a common folder.

Its different folders for different servers.

Does this problem is related to access netbackup access issue for that perticular folder?

Is all Clients are connected to Single Media server, please check the Nic settings on Media server, it should be in duplex mode.
