Hi All, I've been trying to figure out this issue with only one drive being used by Netbackup (7.1.0.4 Windows 2003 64-bit). I have even tried using the nbrbutil -resetall but have had no luck. I even removed the drives, library and storgae unit with no luck. I ran bperror and don't see anything that could be causing this issue. I also ran a diagnostic on out Dell TL4000 library using the IBM drive utility and both drives passed. Also both drives are up in Netbackup. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this issue? Are the drive types the same? tpconfig -d Concurrent write drives set higher than 1?

and:

Are you able to write to the other drive(s), when you manually down the drive that is working?
Do you have queued jobs? If yes, the queued jobs are belonging to the clients that have running backups or are completely different clients?

I downed the drive that was working and the other one started to work. Not sure what the issue is though.

What is your "maximum jobs per clients" in master server host properties? Should be > 1.

It's set to 1. Should I set this to 10 since I have 5 streams per drive?

Here is an update. I tried setting it to 10 and restarting all services. I still have the same problem. Just for background, I never had to change this in the past and it has worked with backing up 10 simultaneous clients.

what about the Max jobs per policy set? does it 1?

show us the output of the detail status which is staying in queue when one job is running...

Also no queued jobs.

This means that your policies are not generating enough jobs to go to a 2nd tape drive.

MPX is set to 5, meaning that the first 5 jobs will go to 1 drive. After that, the 2nd drive will be used.
