If you are interested in the processes and how they are handed on to each other in a backup and restore this is a good document to refer to.

DOCUMENTATION: Details on the VERITAS NetBackup (tm) 6.0 Backup and Restore Process Flow. Covers all backup and restore processes from beginning to end.
    http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/282015.htm

  • NetBackup_Troubleshoot_Guide.pdf Appendix A Functional overview can help you. It doesn't list all the process in a order, but it will tell you for one specific backup / restore who is doing what. there is detailed diagrams for this as well.
  • Best place to find the backup processes and what they are is to download the NetBackup Commands manuals.

    Go to support.symantec.com
    Select the NetBackup product
Select Documentation on the right side of the page

For NetBackup 6.5, the manuals are Doc. ID: 290234 for Unix and 290235 for Windows.

  • Most all of the processes are documented in the following manual:

    - Commands for Windows ( http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290235.htm )
    - Commands for UNIX and Linux ( http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290234.htm )
