Netbackup trylogs location

Hello,

I am looking for a way to find the log location for the "trylogs" folder.

By default at installation time it is created in path "C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\db\jobs".

Is there a way to determine this log location in case it was moved? I am looking for either a command for it, a registry entry or a configuration file specifying it.

Any help would be appreciated.
OS Windows, NBU version 8.0

Thank you!

  • Hello

Parent job ID can be pulled from bpdbjobs -all_columns

    field36 = Parent job number

  • Trylogs and the job database is not a part of NBU catalog so it's always lives in the same path under \db\jobs

There is no official way to move this folder in NBU, you can do hardlinks or softlinks but this still leaves these folders accessible under the same path.

      Thanks for the reply,

Now I have to ask, how do I find the current location of " \db\jobs" folder? :)

It will be where NetBackup is installed:  <install_path>\NetBackup\db\jobs\trylogs\

  • C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\db\jobs is the location for the jobs in the activity monitor. It's not the location for backup scheduling job. Jobs related to backup scheduling has been moved into the EMM database.

What is the objective of finding the trylogs ?

      Hi Nicolai,

In those files I am looking for this entry "ParentJob".

I could not find a command to show if a job was a parent or not and that entry in the files in tryjobs folder is the only place I found this info (other than the GUI).
