Netbackup version and appliance OS version

Can the version of appliance OS be lower than netbackup version

Netbackup primary server is on windows 2019
And appliance is the media server

Given and example netbackup ver 10.1.1 and appliance os ver 5.00 instead of 5.1.1
  • yes
The media server must be at the same or lower version of the master servers's version.
The clients must be at the same or lower version of the media server's version

    So.
If your master is at 10.1.1 and you need to upgrade your clients to 10.1.1, the media server must updated to the same netbackup version. (VxOS 5.1.1 = NBU 10.1.1)

      Ok. Noted. Thanks.

Needs to resolve the recent VTS24-001 issue which needs all Windows clients to be on 10.1.1 min prior to apply the EEB.
  • yes, you can have media servers in lower version.
But the max version of the clients backed up by this  media server must be the media server's version and not master's.

      In actual fact
Can I just check if 10.1.1 go with 3.2?

So if my clients are on 10.0.0.1 and were to upgrade to 10.1.1, my appliance have to upgrade to 5.1.1 from current 5.0.0.1 first?

I have saw the matrix I have gone thru it before but I am still confuse.

      Master    |   Media.    |   Client
      10.1.1      |     8.2.       |   8.2, 8.1.2, 8.1.1, 8.1, 8.0, 7.7.3

If appliance os 3.2 is base on netbackup 8.2
Can I assume that appliance os 3.2 and  netbackup 8.2 it compatible?

  • the appliance software (OS) and Netbackup version , comes as a bundle, so if you plan to upgrade the netbackup on appliance, both the OS and Netbackup will be upgraded.
