Hi BC,
Looks like as of NetBackup 10.2 you need to use a non-root user.

You can still upgrade using the root account.but if you are going to 10.2 and later, just add a non-root user for database and when you are prompted, provide that username. this username must be a non-admin user.

One thing to note in 10.2 (and above) there are now three possible users associated with NetBackup processes.
- The Postgres database user (DATABASE_USER)
- The service account user for most processes (SERVICE_USER)
- root for processes that require this still.
The service account user can be root. The database user cannot be root nor should it be the service account user.
